It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic passing of our dear sweet mommy, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Tasha Mercedes Ferland, at the tender age of 23.

Born on December 10, 2002, in The Pas, Manitoba, Tasha spent her early years between Grand Rapids and The Pas with her mother. At the age of four, she and her big sister, Trinity, moved to Brandon, Manitoba, to live with her father, where she was raised and later graduated from Crocus Plains Secondary School in 2021.

Being a mother was the greatest joy of Tasha’s life. Her beautiful daughter, Lilah Marilyn, was the center of her world. Wherever Tasha went, Lilah was with her. She loved being a mother, and she was such a good mom; she was also the best aunt to her nieces and nephews.

Just like her dad and big sister Trin, her first job was at McDonald's. She then worked at Keystone Catering, and she would often come home to Grand Rapids during summers and holidays to work at the Pelican Landing Gas bar, Restaurant, and VLT’s. She loved to work and was always willing to take on double shifts when needed.
Tasha also had a passion for hockey and played throughout her Atom to Midget years. She was known for fiercely protecting her teammates and always having their backs. Parents would often tell her father, “I’m so glad my daughter is on the same team as Tasha.”

That protective nature was simply who Tasha was. She never hesitated to stand up for the people she loved and would not tolerate anyone mistreating her family or friends. She was especially protective of her big sister, Trinity. In fact, you would have thought Trinity was the younger sister the way Tasha always looked out for her.

Those who knew Tasha will remember her as a sweet, caring, and loving young woman who always went out of her way for the people she loved. Whether it was standing up for you when you needed someone in your corner, baking a birthday cake to make your day special, or taking part in community events and activities. Her loyal and generous heart touched so many lives and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Although Tasha’s time with us was far too short, there is comfort in knowing that she spent her final years surrounded by love and living life to the fullest. She found her greatest joy in being a mother to Lilah, and she truly treasured the time she spent travelling with her cousins and friends. Whether she was attending hockey games, going to concerts, spending time with family, or creating special moments with those she loved, Tasha embraced life wholeheartedly. Those memories, and the love she shared so freely, will remain with us forever.

Tasha leaves to mourn her precious daughter, Lilah Marilyn; sisters, Trinity (Ethan), Trinaysha, Tishanna; brothers, Trevien, Traysen, Elijah Jr (Shayna), Andre, Jaxon, Braylon, & Samuel. Stepbrothers: Kyle, Zane, Bradley; nephews Ray, Reign; nieces Fallon, & Everly-Ann.

I Thought of You Today
I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new
I thought about you yesterday, and days before that too,
I think of you in silence ...I often speak your name
All I have are memories, and your picture in a frame
Your memory is my keepsake, with which I'll never part
God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart.
