Stanley Wilfred Woodford

Peacefully on January 5, 2026, at the Health Centre in Selkirk, Manitoba, Stanley Wilfred Woodford passed away at the 
age of 82 years.

Stanley came from a large family.  The only living sister is Helen Sumner.  The rest of his family are meeting up in Heaven.  He also leaves behind his extended family; nieces and nephews too numerous to mention; the Spence Family, Sumner Family, Woodford Family, Warren Woodhouse and family, Patrick McMahon and his family.

Stanley was predeceased by his sisters, Iona, Elsie, Lena and Louisa; brothers, Clifford, Peter, Harvey and Daniel; his parents, Angus and Christina; as well as numerous other relatives.

Stanley knew about our Lord and Savior.  He said that his mother taught him how to pray.  He was the strong, silent type of person.  He was always working outside planting potatoes, digging seneca root, or he’d go into the bush to chop down trees for firewood in the winter.  He was so used to doing stuff for himself.  One time, a snow plow was clearing the driveways, their driveway was getting cleared the next day.  Stanley couldn’t or wouldn’t wait for the snowplow, so he got his shovel out and at midnight til four in the morning, he shoveled his driveway. His driveway looked really good to him.  

His favorite dessert was chocolate cake with chocolate icing.  He even learned how to bake a cake for himself.  On his first attempt, he asked his sister Lena McMahon to taste it, to see if it was good.

Stanley was an iron worker, and worked up north and all over Manitoba.  He liked to spend time outdoors, chopping wood and digging root.  He was in good shape, and took good care of himself. Stanley was always chewing gum...he would carry a pack in his pocket all the time.  We have so many good memories, which we are thankful for.  Stanley will be lovingly remembered by all of us.

who helped Stanley throughout his lifetime.  The staff from the Eriksdale Personal Care Home staff; the doctors and staff at the Selkirk Health Centre; Pinaymootang Chief & Council; Florence Wood and her son, James Wood for their compassion; and to the Anderson Family Funeral Home.

Footprints
One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand:
One belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, 
He looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life 
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest 
and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, 
you'd walk with me all the way.  
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome 
times in my life, 
there is only one set of footprints.  
I don't understand why when I needed you most 
you would leave me.”
The Lord replied, “My son, My precious child.   
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering, 
when you see only one set of footprints, 
It was then that I carried you.”
