Funeral Details

Monday, October 20, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the Fairford House of Prayer, Fairford, Manitoba

She did it!  Our beloved mom, Margaret Elizabeth Traverse, at the age of 87 years, left us peacefully on October 10, 2025.  Though we will miss her dearly, we let her leave for her heavenly home.

Mom leaves to mourn her daughters, Sonia and Ida Traverse; her sons, Dean, Langford (Evangeline), Don, Clint and Justin; her sister Betty Traverse; her sisters in-law, Mary Jane Sinclair, Eva Woodford and Susan Traverse; 34 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends, too numerous to mention.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Lawrence; her son Darryl, daughter Stella and son Wesley in infancy; her grandchild, Justin Jr. Traverse and grandchildren, Asini Contois, Tristan Amos and Little Stanley A. L. Traverse in infancy; her parents, George and Ida Sinclair; her sisters, Grace (Willis) Woodhouse, Alice (George) Sanderson, Lydia (Alexander) Marsden and Julia (Samuel) Marsden; her brothers, Sherman (Christina) Sinclair, Roy (Cecilia) Sinclair, Robert Sinclair, Miles (Mary) Sinclair and Wesley Sinclair.

Mom was very well respected and loved by many relatives and friends far and wide, many called her mom or granny.  Some grandchildren called her granny Attoo or Kookoo.  Mom worked hard, alongside dad, raising us children and took care of our home and yard.  She raised 2 grandchildren, Ardell and Wayne Woodhouse who called her “mom”.

Mom was a talented beader, she did some beautiful bead work on moccasins and crafted leather vests, which she fastened with leather strips, no thread.  She was also a great cook and was known for her Icelandic cakes.  Visitors dropped in for a meal or tea and bannock often.

Mom had a great sense of humour and a temper.  Many witnessed her antics, face gestures and teasing.  She and her sisters were tortured by the Stagg boys, oh boy, LOL.

Mom loved to go thrifting and shopping, to church and camp meetings and travelling to different places, especially States side.  Many family and friends gave mom a ride when she wanted to go somewhere, that run about, LOL.

One comment made was: Remember her always, “she was a special woman”, she did good taking care of herself.  A modest woman, always dressed in fine apparel and a loyal Christian woman, a dancer for her Lord and Saviour.  Wow, she lived to the fullest.  That was mom.

We will miss you mom!  In our hearts forever!

2 Timothy 4: 7-8

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
