It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, father, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, Kyle Nathanial Sumner of Pinaymootang First Nation at the age of 41 years. Kyle peacefully passed at Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, Manitoba on May 21, 2026, with his mother Julia and aunt Kathleen by his bedside.
Kyle is survived by his children, Ava, Kya, Lyla and Kyle Jr.; his mother Julia (Fred); his second mom and aunt Kathleen; sisters Tracy (Garry), Lindsay, Loretta and Nadia; brothers, Stanford (Doris) Timothy and Ryan; grandmother Helen Sumner, whom he called his (Queen). Maternal side aunties, Kathleen, Verna, Evelyn and Lisa; uncles, Wayne and Cyril (Lisa Dawn); cousins whom he considered his sisters and brothers, Jaime, Lana, Gloria, Monica, Rhea, Tina, Lena, Sandra, Odette, Kyla, Shanda, Daynah, Lauren, Jasmine, Madea and Martha Bruce, George, Zack, Dwayne, Walter, Keith, Matthew, Curtis, Mitchell, Wesley, Leslie Jr, Adam, Peter, Cory, Josh, Theoren, Ian, Isaac, Lucas and Brian; special nephew Mason; special uncle and aunt Chris and Brenda Bruce; also his nephew and praying buddy Ritchie. Paternal side aunties, Myrtle (Derrick) Anderson, Marion Beardy, Freda (Raymond) Woodhouse and Jean (Stewart) Beardy; uncles Marvin, Oliver and Nester Anderson.
Kyle was born in Winnipeg on March 16, 1985. He enjoyed visiting his family and friends. Playing Dice with family, teasing one another, hunting and fishing with a few that he called brothers. Kyle worked doing any kind of various jobs such as labor work, carpentry. Kyle completed high school and he received his grade 12 diploma. His favourite time was spent was with his baby girl Kya, she was his pride and joy and light of his life.
Kyle fought a brave battle against cancer, right until the very end. Towards the end of his long battle he called on Jesus, and surrendered his life to the Lord.
Psalms 34:18 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Kyle was predeceased by his father Riley Anderson (2023), his brother Stephen Sumner (2025), his paternal grandfather Cubby Anderson (2002), uncle and aunt Bradley and Doreen (2019); his maternal grandfather Isaac (1982), aunties Caroline (2021), Christine (2002) and Rhonda (2005), uncles Brian (2022), James (2001), Tommy and George (1997), cousins William (1997) and Farine (2005), nephews Ryan (2023) Kevin (2021) and baby bird (2016).

To all that came to see him in his time of need and for the many prayers that was sent for him and our family.
