Gerald Letandre (Jay)
November 9, 1959 - June 23, 2026
Funeral Details
It is with great sadness that we, the family of Gerald "Huské" Letandre, announce his passing after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Uncle Jay, as he was lovingly referred to by many, left us in the early morning hours of June 23 at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Gerald was the youngest son to Thomas and Elsie Letandre. He spent most of his life helping care for his parents as they aged. Jay also helped his parents raise his nieces Lavina, Myrna and Ashley Letandre; nephews Sidney Jr and Julian Letandre; great nephew Korbyn, great nieces Nalani and Carly.
He was predeceased by his father Thomas Letandre; mother Elsie Letandre; siblings Mary Jane (in infancy) Ethel Sumner, Ruth Desjarlais, Jocelyn Martin, Myrtle Anderson, Marilyn Anderson, Beverly Sinclair, Sidney Letandre Sr, Leonard Letandre. Brother in laws: George Sumner, Andrew Desjarlais, John Martin, Edward Anderson, Louis Anderson, and Allan Sinclair.
Gerald is survived by his sister Dora Sumner, brother in law Edward Sumner, close cousin Millie Gould; Ashley, Julian, Korbyn, Nalani and Carly who resided with him. His presence in their lives will be forever missed.
Gerald is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, close cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
While being a care giver was his greatest pleasure in life, Gerald also worked as a finance officer for the Pinaymootang First Nation; finance officer for Anishinaabe Pimadiziwin (formerly Anishinaabe Child and Family Services). He also worked as a VLT Clerk at the Pinaymootang Arena.
Uncle Jay was an excellent homemaker. His home was very welcoming and always very clean. He would often be found washing his windows or cleaning his kitchen. Uncle Jay was the best pie maker ever! His bannock was pretty awesome too.
Jay was a competitive person. He enjoyed playing games like King Pete, Four Tens, Scrabble and Ten Thousand.
At our Letandre Family Reunion a few years back, Uncle Jay challenged anyone there to a footrace. I don't recall if anyone took him up on that-- pretty sure he would have won hands down.
Rest easy Uncle. You are already missed very much
The family wishes to thank everyone who has expressed their condolences; to the ones that stopped in on Jay during his stay in the hospital, your kindness is much appreciated.
Thanks also to the Anderson Family Funeral Home for your careful attention to fulfilling Gerald's request for his service.

Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd:
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness
for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil;
My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
