Frank Allan Hudson

Frank Allan Hudson, lovingly known to many as “Chipper,” of Fisher River Cree Nation, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at 97 years of age.

Known for his cheerful nature and positive outlook on life, Uncle Frank earned the nickname “Chipper” because he was always happy, quick with a smile, and enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Uncle Frank was predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Mary Jane Hudson; his sisters, Dorothy Crate and husband Fred, Mary Mallett and husband Ben, Nora Mallett and husband John, and Margaret Kemash and husband Felix; his brother Edward and his infant brother Arnold; as well his Kemash niece and nephews; Pamela, Patrick, Brian, Martin and Douglas.

He leaves to mourn his passing and celebrate his life his many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and all those who knew and loved him. While too numerous to name, each held a special place in his heart.

As the last surviving sibling in his family and the oldest living member of Fisher River Cree Nation, Uncle Frank lived a long and full life. He was known and respected by many throughout the community and will be remembered for his kindness, cheerful spirit, hard work, and love of family.

For many years, Uncle Frank worked as a commercial fisherman and was also an avid trapper. He knew the land and waters well and spent much of his life providing for himself and his family. One of his greatest accomplishments was caring for his parents, Alexander and Mary Jane Hudson, until their passing. He later continued to provide love and care to his nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart.

Although Uncle Frank never had children of his own, he was blessed with a large family of nieces and nephews. Family meant everything to him, and he always enjoyed hearing family news, sharing stories, and spending time with those he loved.

Uncle Frank will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.

Wake Service: Friday, June 5, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fisher River United Church, Fisher River, Manitoba.

(Hearse will arrive at the Hwy 325/Hwy 17 junction at 6:00 p.m. for anyone who would like to follow to Fisher River)

Funeral Service: Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 1:00 p.m., viewing will follow the service at Fisher River United Church, Fisher River, Manitoba.

Interment: Fisher River Community Cemetery

Honorary Pallbearers: All of Uncle Frank's nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and extended family members.

Appreciation: The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the management and staff of Ochekwi-Sipi Personal Care Home for the care, kindness, and friendship they showed Uncle Frank during his time there. We also thank everyone who visited him, spent time with him, and shared stories and friendship throughout the years.

The family also extends their appreciation to Chief and Council of Fisher River Cree Nation for their support during this difficult time.

His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure.
He is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

May the winds be gentle,
