With profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Alvin "Labatts" Beardy, who passed away on June 22, 2026, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 56.

Known affectionately as "Labatts" by family and friends in Lake St. Martin First Nation, Alvin was a man whose love for his family, his community, and the land defined his life. He will be remembered for his generous heart, quiet strength, unwavering resilience, and the deep love he carried for those closest to him.

Alvin will forever missed by his children: Patricia Murdock, Alvin Murdock (Gina), Allen Murdock, Priscilla Harper (Russell), Albert Murdock, Amanda Murdock (Dakota), and Jenna Murdock; his ex-wife and mother of his children, Charlene Murdock; his sisters, Harriet Beardy and Sharon Beardy; brothers, Lester Beardy, Edward Beardy, Allan Beardy (Rachel), Clifford Beardy (Melvina), and Leslie Beardy (Pearl); his uncle, George Beardy; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends.

He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Harriet Beardy and Sharon Beardy; his brothers, Lester Beardy, Edward Beardy, Allan Beardy (Rachel), Clifford Beardy (Melvina), and Leslie Beardy (Pearl); his uncle, George Beardy; his special niece, Julia Beardy; his nephews, Clifford Anderson and Morris Beardy; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends.

Alvin was reunited with his partner, Terry Duck; parents, Rosie Beardy and Thomas Beardy; sisters, Cindy Beardy and Bertha Beardy; brothers, Albert Beardy and William Beardy; nephews, Tommy Beardy and Allan Beardy Jr.; nieces, Katherine Beardy, Leona Beardy, and Ariel Beardy; uncles Olsen "Chummy" Beardy and Victor Beardy; Ida Roulette, Dorothy O'Meara, Kathleen Ryle; and many other cherished family members who welcomed him home.

Alvin found peace outdoors, where he enjoyed sitting quietly, reflecting on life, and taking in the beauty of nature. He loved music, commercial fishing, hunting, and spending time on the land. Some of his happiest moments were shared with family and friends around a table, outdoors, or wherever stories, laughter, and good conversation could be found.

Alvin was a devoted father and grandfather. He believed it was important that his children knew who they were, where they came from, and the strength of their family roots. His love for his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews was natural and easy to see, especially in the way he liked to tease, joke, and share laughter with them.

A few years ago, Alvin faced one of the greatest challenges of his life after complications from a vehicle accident that eventually resulted in meningitis and multiple strokes. Through remarkable courage, determination, and faith, he fought hard and made a recovery that inspired those around him. Although his passing came unexpectedly, his perseverance remains a testament to the strength that defined his life.

Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that Alvin's love, teachings, laughter, and spirit will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, kindness, generosity, and unconditional love that will never be forgotten.
